Under the Pandit Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihood Mission as per the guidelines of UCD, ICICI Bank has provided low interest and subsidized loans to the Mandal. Sangeeta Nishith Vanzari, the leader of this Mandal is very enthusiastic and active. is We are committed to making delicious and healthy papads available to consumers using pure spices and flour, along with cleanliness and hygiene, they say. Margin means profit may be less but we have to provide quality papad to the customer.

At present, till the demand arises, if the customer brings his own flour, spices, etc., we will make papads by taking labor charges and Sakhi Mandal will also make and sell papads. We have ground and brought the required pure spices for papad from all the way from Maharashtra. This Sakhi Mandal also wants to install a spice grinder used in cooking in the future. People will like our papad and they are confident that we will easily repay the bank loan from its sale proceeds.

The sisters of this congregation make regular monthly savings and from the collected funds also give loans to the member sisters for purposes like social events, children’s education at only 1 percent interest. The state government has made provisions like credit assistance, interest subsidy and tied up with banks to enable Sakhi Mandals to undertake employment and income generating activities and to boost women’s empowerment.
