Taste Of Our Towns (TOOT) festival is back on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. after the event was canceled in 2020 and 2021.

Thousands of residents and visitors from across the region gather on the streets of historic downtown Lewisburg to sample delicious food from local restaurants, civic clubs, and nonprofit organizations.

However, TOOT is much more than a food festival.

In addition to food vendors, the festival also features multiple entertainment stages, children’s activities, traveling performers, and much more. The shops in downtown Lewisburg are also open during the day.

The Carnegie Hall Stage will feature Blue Steel (11 a.m.-12 p.m.), Hello June (12:15-1:15 p.m.), and The Shootouts (1:30-3 p.m.) and the WV Renaissance Festival will provide performances throughout the day at the corner of Washington and Church streets.

New for TOOT 2022, the Carnegie Hall Art Block will feature 14 of Carnegie Hall’s teaching artists working in clay, fiber, glass, pyrography and woodturning, as well as a soap maker, a basket weaver and a barn quilt artist. There will be multiple live demonstrations throughout the festival, including turning a wood pen, weaving a basket and wood burning a landscape. Visitors to TOOT will also be able to participate in a silent auction for multiple handmade items. Watch as Carnegie Hall brings the arts to life during this special event feature.

Other scheduled entertainment includes a strolling violinist, photo booths, face painting, a balloon artist stilt walker, Trillium Performing Arts performances, ukulele music, West Virginia Department of Tourism traveling exhibit, an electric jeep display, and more.

And the galleries in Carnegie Hall will be open. A great jazz duo, Penn and Hoffman, in Carnegie Hall’s Lobby Gallery with Susanna Robinson and Sherri O’Day will be in the Old Stone Room, as part of the art receptions for the last month of Carnegie’s Fall Art show.

The Museum of Natural, Technological and Sociological Wonders Exhibit Hutchins will be in the Museum Gallery. Galleries are open from 12-2 p.m., and the public is invited to visit.

Radio Greenbrier will provide its 103.1FM live feed and “The Bear” mascot will be on location.

Also, the Humane Society will have pets available to adopt.

New this year, you can now obtain TOOT tasting tickets from the comfort of your home just by clicking the tickets button at www.carnegiehallwv.org. Of course, tickets will be sold the day of as well.
