IEPER, Belgium — December 7, 2021 — Picanol Group today announced the construction of a new headquarters in its hometown of Ieper, Belgium. The new building will accommodate 450 employees and will be built on the company's existing site, between its training center and Zuiderring Road. The architectural design of the new headquarters—which will be shaped like a weaving shuttle—reflects Picanol’s rich history of loom manufacturing. The building was designed by AAVO Architects and covers an area of 20,000 square meters, including a parking lot and 7,500 square meters of basement. Through this project, Picanol Group ensures the sustainable development of the group in Ieper.

The growth in recent years means that Picanol Group has been struggling for some time in the absence of space in its existing premises. With this in mind, a project was initiated to house some employees of Picanol and PsiControl (part of the Picanol Group) and all group functions in a new office building. This new headquarters will consist of two floors, including a spacious visitor reception area, meeting rooms, auditorium and offices. The two oval upper floors will house offices, meeting rooms, company cafeterias and roof terraces. At the same time, car and bicycle traffic will enter the headquarters through the planned entrance/exit on the Zuiderring.

The internal structure of the building is open and transparent, the purpose is to promote collaboration between the company's departments. In addition, the building will use the latest technologies and materials to make it as sustainable and energy-efficient as possible. This will include the use of geothermal and solar energy. There will also be a green roof area, and the surrounding environment of the building will be arranged according to the latest insights into soft nature management.

Ieper's construction work is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2022. This work will take up to 2 years to complete, and the new headquarters is scheduled to open in 2024.
