Loyalsock started the season on Friday, with only one starter returning from last year's AAA state championship. The only starter fouled at the start of overtime on March 1st on Saturday.

And Loyalsock still found a way to defeat the perennial power.

Saraje Ali scored another double-double before fouling in the fourth quarter, but Loyasok did not miss the opportunity to complete a thrilling reversal, defeating the Trinity 61-56 at home. Nate Bowman scored 4 of the 14 points in overtime as the Gunners defeated the Trinity 8-3. Brandon Clarke was the difference maker on the rebounds. He almost got a double-double, scoring 8 points and 12 rebounds. Ali shined again, scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Jaiden Ross scored 9 points and Gage Patterson made a crucial overtime basket.

Williamsport's defense was very good, scoring only 24 points in three quarters, while establishing a 27-point lead and defeating William Penn-York 64-48. Kenon Brown scored 24 points and JJ Beagle scored 12 points as the Millionaires led 51-24 in three quarters. Elijah Frierson added 9 points to the millionaire, and their first two opponents each had less than 50 points.

Hughesville had a strong start, delayed in a series of rallies and won the Shikellamy Championship, defeating the host brave team 65-62. Carter Cowburn and Josh Heiney were the winners of all tournaments. Cowburn had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Dylan Bieber scored a team-high 15 points and Hayney 13 points to help Houstonville establish a 45-35 halftime lead. Landon King (9 points) and Ethan Woolcock (7 rebounds) who came off the bench performed well. Woolcock's defense in the fourth quarter played a vital role in this victory. Jeff Finstermacher made 4 steals, and Nick Trevordes scored 9 points.

South Williamsport finished third in the Shikellamy Championship, eliminating one point behind halftime and defeating Greenwood 43-36. Both Sequan Roberts and Lee Habalar have had important matches. Roberts scored a game-high 20 points and Habaral scored a career-high 18 points.

Nathan Aksterman and Carter Marr both set career highs in scoring, but the Warriors lost 64-37 to Williamsburg. Axtman scored 15 points, Marr scored 14 points, and Axtman made three three-pointers. Mason Sheesley added 6 points and made two three-pointers.

Bucktail second-year guard Braylon Fantaski continued his strong start, scoring 17 points in a 53-45 loss to St. Joseph. Fantaski scored 41 points in his first two games, and Bucktail almost won the game, although there was no leading scorer. Sophomore Brody Pentz scored 11 points and Zach Pick scored 7 points.

Sullivan County defeated MMI 49-37. Riley King led the Griffins with 15 points and Trey Higley had 10 points. Owen Schweitzer and Bryon Fitzgerald both scored 7 points.

King had a team-high 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Fitzgerald had four steals.

Canton defeated Williamson 49-27 in the Galton Championship. Isaiah Niemczyk scored 22 points and Caiden Williams scored 10 points for Canton.

• In the women's basketball game, Loyalsock ended an impressive first weekend, beating the State University 51-30 to win the State University Championship. The Lancers defeated 6A Little Lions and the perennial strong team Linden Hall in the game. Arya Kennedy scored a game-high 18 points and Mia Patterson had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Grace Baylor added 10 points to Loyalsock (2-0), who was undefeated in Milton on Monday night.

Speaking of Milton, five players scored in double figures on Saturday because the Panthers prevented St. John Neumann's challenge and won 62-45. Morgan Reiner and Leah Walter scored a career-high 14 points. Kiersten Stork received 12 points, and Kyle Rovenolt and Abbey Kitchen each received 10 points. Sheiana Tutler dominated Neumann, scoring a career-high 26 points, grabbing 13 rebounds, 6 blocks and adding 3 assists. Gigi Palant had 6 points and 5 rebounds, and Elizabeth Weller had a career-high 11 rebounds. Rookie Shanniyah Tutler scored 20 points in a 29-24 win by Neumann JV.

Muncy freshman Addison Eyer was at his best under pressure, helping Muncy to beat Wellsboro 34-32 and win the Muncy Rotary Tournament with four consecutive free throws. Eyer ended the game with a game-high 11 points and was named the tournament MVP with a score of 6 of 6 shots in the game on Saturday. Avery Bigelow won all championship honors and scored 8 points, while Ariana Copeland scored 7 points. The Indians played a suffocating defense for the second consecutive night, recovered from a 7-point deficit in the second quarter, and scored only 21 points in the last three quarters. Wellsboro freshmen Paige Logsdon and Chloe Brandenburg each scored 8 points and Emma Coolidge 6 points.

Faith Persing scored a game-high 16 points. Montgomery defeated the North Penn Liberty 28-23 with a brilliant performance in the third quarter and finished third in the Ryan Ostrom Championship. The Red Raiders led by 12-1, turning the 5-point gap into a lead they did not give up. Jaclyn Nelson scored 7 points for North Penn-Liberty.

Breanna Bobak scored 11 points and rookie Ali Anstadt almost recorded a double-double as Hughesville defeated Lewisburg 35-30. Anstatt had 8 points and 14 rebounds, and 26 rebounds in her first two games in high school. Hailey Poust scored 9 points and the Spartans won 12-5 in the second quarter. Freshman Maria Bozella scored 10 points in the first game for Lewisburg.

Newcomer Peyton Dincher and sophomore Jocelyn McCracken each scored 13 points, and the Jersey Coast defeated Troy 49-27 in the season opener. Nine Bulldogs scored, the Jersey Coast controlled the game early and established a 32-8 advantage at halftime. The Bulldogs also played a strong defense, scoring only 14 points in the first three quarters.

Shaniya Sparrow scored 9 points, Addison Farrer and McKenna Lightner each scored 7 points, North Penn-Mansfield defeated Cowanesque Valley 34-28 and finished third in the Jack Bush Tournament. Peyton Church scored 14 points in Friday's semifinals and won all championship honors. Ella Churchill was also selected to all tournament teams in Cowanesque Valley and scored 9 points. Paisley Nudd added seven.

Peyton Beni scored 10 points and Salina Bate scored 8 points, but Williamsport fell behind early and failed to catch up in the 71-35 loss to Lake Lehman.

Stella Harney scored 6 points to help the Central Hills team lose the season opener 32-28 in a close match. After the first quarter, the Wildcats led 15-9, but BEA defeated the Central Mountain team 13-1 in the fourth quarter.

Tara Mader led Central Mountain with 14 points, while Mia Kopysciansky added 8 points.

Sullivan County lost to the 5A Blue Mountains 48-6 in the Sellings Grove Championship. Chloe Immel added 5 rebounds and 2 steals.

Williamson defeated Galton 39-26 in the Galton Championship. Olivia Rohrbaugh scored 12 points to lead Galeton, and Alli Macnesky scored 7 points. Williamson led with 26 points from Taylor Ray Jones.

• In a high school wrestling match, Milton defeated Belmont Chatter (48-24), Roman Catholic (54-24) and East Hannock (51-12) in the Keith Flynn doubles match 3-2, but Lost to Gettysburg (63-6) and Emmaus (51-24). Ham Jason defeated Emmaus' Minister Henry with 126 pounds in 58 seconds, and defeated Tom Hannock's Jimmy Lyle at 1:00.

Against the Roman Catholics, the Panthers lost to Abraham May by 1:00.

Also in the match against the Roman Catholics, Milton's Nathan Rauch defeated Charles England in 18 seconds with a time of 285 seconds.

• In the women's basketball game, Lycoming defeated FDU-Florham 48-41 at La Made Stadium, winning the team's second victory of the season. The University of Pennsylvania lost its second game in a row and lost in a fierce game against Horton 71-66 in overtime. In the second minute, 197-pound sophomore Gable Crebs (Gable Crebs), Montoursville (Montoursville) graduate and junior heavyweight heavyweight Connor Fulmer (Connor Fulmer) hit Out, helped the Lycoming College wrestling team beat Alfred State University with a 24-17 reversal. After that, the team won nine doubles at Keystone College with a score of 43-3.
