It was a big year for Maneskin and Imagine Dragons, as the two acts both scored four nominations when the American Music Awards nominees were revealed Thursday (Oct. 13). Each of the acts scored multiple rock category nods, with Maneskin up for Favorite Rock Artist and Favorite Rock Song ("Beggin'"), while Imagine Dragons got the trifecta with Favorite Rock Artist, Favorite Rock Song ("Enemy" with JID) and Favorite Rock Album (Mercury - Act 1).
Both Maneskin and Imagine Dragons also earned nods outside the rock categories, with Maneskin up for New Artist of the Year and Favorite Pop Duo or Group, while Imagine Dragons other nomination came for Favorite Pop Duo or Group.
They aren't the only multi-nominated acts in the rock categories. Red Hot Chili Peppers are up for Favorite Rock Artist, Favorite Rock Song ("Black Summer") and Favorite Rock Album (Unlimited Love). Machine Gun Kelly was doubly nominated for Favorite Rock Artist and Favorite Rock Album (mainstream sellout).
In addition to Imagine Dragons, Machine Gun Kelly and Maneskin and Red Hot Chili Peppers, the other Favorite Rock Artist nominee is The Lumineers. Other Rock Song nominees include Foo Fighters' "Love Dies Young" and Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)," with the latter being an '80s hit rejuvenated this past year by its use in the Netflix series Stranger Things. As for Favorite Rock Album, you can look for Coldplay's Music of the Spheres and Ghost's Impera competing against MGK, Imagine Dragons and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
