The heavy rains that have continued to batter Karnataka on Saturday have thrown life out of gear for the people living in the state. And after Coastal Karnataka and its hilly regions received intense precipitation all week, North Karnataka districts seemed to have joined the club now.

While the state capital Bengaluru woke up to pleasant skies, cool winds and drizzles, the effect of the monsoon's fury is a little more pronounced in the other districts.

The Kalaburagi district, known for soaring temperatures, has practically turned into a hill station. The District Commissioner of Kalaburagi declared a holiday for schools and colleges on Saturday, and a yellow alert has been issued over the district for Saturday and Sunday. Rainfall in the Western Ghats has raised the water levels by 3 feet of the river Kali in Uttara Kannada district. The people of Dandeli town are worried as the water has already started inundating residential areas on the outskirts.

Incidents of landslides have been reported in Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Udupi, and a red alert has been placed on all three districts. A major landslide has been reported from the Uttara Kannada district, where the major landslide has brought the movement of vehicles to a halt on National Highway 66, which connects Maharashtra and Goa states.
